While Jhan was still playing in a full-time band, his best friend, Bob Siegel, had begun winding down his own ‘playing’ career, and started booking local pubs around the city. Still roommates at the time, however, Jhan soon realized he was on the phone for Bob more often than not. So it wasn’t long before the two formed an official partnership and thus, in 1975, Siegel Entertainment Inc. was born.
During the last four decades, Jhan has enjoyed countless career highlights, including working with legendary artists such as Sarah Vaughan, Roy Orbison, Stéphane Grappelli, and especially many legendary Blues artists such as John Lee Hooker, Otis Rush, ‘Gatemouth’ Brown, John Hammond, Long John Baldry, and Elvin Bishop – to name a few. He has also had the pleasure of helping to propel the career of a fresh-faced up-and-comer – the then unknown lounge singer, Michael Bublé.
These days, in his new role as consultant at the recently rebranded Siegel Entertainment Curation, Jhan’s one guiding principle remains the same as always… honesty and integrity are paramount for the success of any business.
And, by the way, after all these years, Jhan is still singing the blues… as guitarist and frontman of ‘The Matchbox Blues Band’, that is, which you can catch live at the Cottage Bistro almost every other Sunday. Come on down!
