‘Swing2Beat’ is a 4p swing dance jazz band featuring 2 guitars, bass, and clarinet/sax (and, as a 5p, adding Mercedes Ghosh on vocals). The music is of the gypsy “manouche” jazz style, as was made famous by Django Reinhardt and his Hot Club Jazz Band. Their sound is infectious, dance-able music with a percussive strumming rhythm known as “la pompe”, which drives the beat.
With tunes like “Douce Ambiance,” “Manoir de mes Reves,” and “Si Tu Savais,” Swing2Beat will take you back in time, to a sidewalk cafe in Paris, sipping a cafe au lait, browsing Le Figaro, c’est la vie!
