Pop artist Kaylee Johnston is releasing her self-titled debut album in 2015. After writing over 300 songs, she’s spent the last two years developing her sound with her production team SA Trackworks (Steve Smith and Anthony Anderson). “I was working on an electro-pop album, but it always felt like something was missing, so I went back to the basics. The new album sounds fresh to me… a combination of organic instruments mixed with hints of electronic sounds.”

Kaylee recorded her first album at the age of 16 with Bill Buckingham. Her song, “Arms Around Me,” garnered her a finalist slot in the Canadian Radio Star songwriting competition, a placement in a made-for-TV movie, a feature on CBC radio, and a guest spot on Vancouver’s Jack FM morning show. Since then she’s continued to climb, opening for Dragonette and Ace of Base, and sharing the stage with Carly Rae Jepsen, Marianna’s Trench, One Republic, and Joe Jonas.

Songs from Kaylee’s 2010 EP Streetlight, produced by Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter), can be heard on radio and television across North America, including “Bigger Than You” (the single off the album) and “Ego” (CTV/TeenNick’s Degrassi: The Next Generation). In 2013, she released the single “Gone” to critical acclaim:

“Kaylee Johnston makes a great case that she’s ready for the candy-dipped electro-pop spotlight with her latest single ‘Gone,’ which is lovingly engineered to appeal to those who can’t get enough of Katy Perry and the ever-awesome Robyn in their diets.” —The Georgia Straight

An energetic performer who has wow-ed audiences at the 2010 Olympic Games and crowds of up to 5000, Kaylee delivers her ear-catching pop hooks with a crisp, intoxicating voice that is distinct and unforgettable. Taking influence from artists like Stevie Nicks, Annie Lennox, and Heart, her songs carry an undertone of inner strength and empowerment layered with contemporary beats and melodic hooks.
