“I have a popular music background and I’m not afraid to let it influence the music I compose,” he explains. “This is bold new territory for classical music, and being a composer and guitarist at this juncture in its history is an exciting opportunity for me to write music that is popular in its draw yet classical in form”. At the 2009 Toronto Guitar Symposium, ground breaking Czech guitar virtuoso, Pavel Steidl, agreed, describing the opening chords of the second movement of Tod’s ‘Along French River’ as, “Delicious”!

Upon Graduation from VCC (Composition/Guitar) in 1999, Tod moved to Toronto. He has since been the recipient of two Interplay Composers Symposium Workshops hosted by Jon Washburn and the Vancouver Chamber Choir in 2000/2005 and was a tenor with the Toronto Mendelssohn and Palestrina Chamber Choirs in 1999-2001.
