Ruel’s versatility is what makes him unique. He resides in Vancouver, BC, where he works as a performer, instructor, composer and arranger. He enjoys performing as a finger style/loop guitarist on a 7 string acoustic, as a vocalist with his own rhythm guitar arrangements and as a session guitar player.

Ruel holds a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of British Columbia majoring in Classical Guitar Performance with a minor in Composition. While solo guitar is his forte, he began his journey into music at the age of 4 studying Classical Piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Ruel took up drums and percussion as a teenager and later became Principal Percussionist in the Kwantlen University Wind Ensemble. He was also a tenor vocalist in Gail Suderman’s choir and Madrigal Jazz ensemble.

Eager to express himself beyond the confines of academia, Ruel has continued to explore other genres through playing in Alternative, Pop and Progressive Rock bands. He continued his private studies with world renowned musicians Dave Martone (electric guitar) and Ryan Van Poederooyen (drums).
