Rick attended the prestigious Berkelee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and from there moved to New York,
where he worked as bassist with such jazz luminaries as Dave Brubeck, Mose Allison, Lionell Hampton, Gerry Mulligan,
Airto, Flora Purim, and Chet Baker.
As a producer for numerous Jazz and Pop artists, he has produced 100's of recordings, released on major and
Independent labels. Along with his list of Juno and Grammy nominations, he received a Juno Award for Best Jazz
Album in 1998 as Consulting Producer for the Hugh Fraser Society Quintet CD, "Looking Up." Then, in 1999,
he received a CARAS West Coast Music Award for Best Jazz Album, for the Quintet's "Pas de Probleme" CD.
As band leader, Rick Kilburn presents one of Vancouver's most professional and delightful jazz ensembles,
consisting of Acoustic Bass, Electric Guitar (or Piano), and Saxophone.
