John Gilliat began playing guitar at age nine, and at eighteen, he joined a group called "Legend." He then went
on to play in Major Tom, a David Bowie tribute band that toured Canada and the U.S. After studying Jazz at
Capilano College, where he received a scholarship and graduated with Top Honours, he began to study Flamenco.
John now performs solo and tours to promote his CD "Freedom" with his own group, which combines elements of Rumba,
Flamenco, World Beat and Pop. John also plays with Vancouver band "Gypsalero".

"The style is called Nouveau Flamenco and Langley acoustic guitarist John Gilliat is blazingly good at it.
Light a candle, pour some chamomile and don't wonder how he moves his hands so fast or you'll just stress."
